We need your input...
Hi Maria & Manuela,
We need your input on lots of things!
First of all, we've been brainstorming some ideas about individual evaluation (doublefold purpose - for you as teachers to see what they've learnt and for us as researchers to be able to identify and measure specific outcomes to be combined with the other qualitative data). This is what we've come up with so far:
Ideas for individual evaluation
For specific vocabulary:
Match pictures to word then classify (healthy or bad habit, problem)
Reasoning & comprehension:
Multiple choice of cause & effect (e.g. Helga has got a stomachache because she eats McDonald’s hamburgers everyday/ reads/ plays video games six hours a day.)Next, have them write down (in Catalan & German), what they know about:
Austria/Spain: (general – country, partners, etc.)
Habits (leave it general to see if they make any conceptual links, or classify or simply list them)
Anything else? These could be accompanied by oral focus group interviews (in Spain - don't worry, Manuela, we don't expect you to do all of this by yourself in Austria!)
SO, specific questions for you:
1) feedback on the above ideas
2) suggestions for specific questions for Albert & Stella's interview (NOT a part of the above evaluation)
3) PLEASE give us serious critique on the project design, materials, implementation, etc. All of this is important for us to be able to improve them for the next time and also to include in the research.
THANKS MILLIONS!

Wow! What a way to come back from holidays!
Here's my reflection on this very exciting, eventful week. BTW just realised I'm wearing the same clothes as the last podcast (yes, I do have more clothes in my closet - pure coincidence :)

Homage to Teachers
I’m a teacher, without fears and without complexes.
I’m a teacher and proud to be one.
Yes, I’ve got almost two months vacations
and my workday is short but intensive.
I’m a teacher, and I take my work home
and others don’t know that
but I don’t care
...I’m a teacher
I don’t argue about the number of holidays a fireman has,
or the people who work in jails.
I’m a teacher
and when I go to the doctor I don’t argue
with the diagnosis,
I just ask to be cured.
I’m a teacher and when I go to the lawyer
I don’t argue about the law,
I just want to be defended.
I’m a teacher and when I drive on the highway
I feel safe
because
I know the highway was designed by an engineer.
I’m a teacher and I live peacefully in my home,
the one designed by an architect.
And you, who are you? Why do you dare
to tell me that I work little and badly at that?
I’m a teacher
and everyday I teach the way to assimilate
the competences needed by my students.
I’m a teacher
and everyday of every course, I face a bunch of kids that I learn from as much as they learn from me.
And you, who are you? Why do you dare
to tell me that I work little and badly at that?
I’m a teacher and everyday I work
with sensitive and fragile individuals
who
still have not matured.
I’m a teacher and I try to show them how to
achieve personal success through work, force and dignity.
And you, who are you? Why do you dare
to tell me that I work little and badly at that?
My salary is reduced, my hours lengthened
I have more and more students
in my classes ...
I KNOW WHO I AM.
But... you, who do you think you are?
I’m a teacher, without fears and without complexes.
I’m a teacher and proud to be one.
